Our Tribute to Liam
God, I don’t know how or where to start this. It feels so wrong to be writing a tribute to someone who had so much love left to give and so much life he should have experienced.
When the news broke, something inside me broke too. I was at work and came across the news. At first I wasn’t sure it was real, but then reality hit as more and more news outlets shared the information that Liam had passed at 31.
Liam, I’m not going to talk about how you died. There’s another article that covers that, but for this one I want to talk about everything you gave us as fans. Some of us were fans from the beginning and remember seeing 14 year old you on the X Factor and thinking woah, what a talented young guy. Others came during 2010 and some came along later, but one thing we all share is our love of you.
Your unfailing kindness to fans did not go unnoticed, nor did your self deprecating humour, your joyful laughter, the smile that lit up the room and the incredible music you blessed us with. We are better because we knew you, whether that was in person, or through what you shared. You made us feel seen, safe and loved and we will always be grateful for that.
Zayn once called you brave and you really were one of the bravest people I’ve ever seen, fighting your demons and trying to be kind, regardless of the hate that was thrown at you along the way. You spent some of your last hours alive fulfilling peoples Go Fund Me accounts and gave up time to volunteer for multiple charities over the years.
People were so unkind to you and it broke our hearts to see the hate you got over mere allegations with no proof, but we believed in you. We trusted that if the allegations had been true that you would have owned them, because you always took ownership of your demons and the things you did wrong.
You were funny, smart and always made fans feel loved and valued. We saw you at your most vulnerable and tried our best to fight and give you a voice in a world where you couldn’t speak up, but I hope you know how many lives you touched.
People who weren’t even fans have been troubled by your passing and everyone of your family and friends have spoken of you with such kindness and obvious love. It’s so clear that anyone who really knew you loved you endlessly and we will keep your legacy alive. We will not let those last few months become what people remember of you.
Our promise is that we’ll be brave like you, love without condition and see the best in people.
Thank you for sharing your life with us. We loved you more than you know and if you can see this please hug your family and our boys for us. We’ll carry you with us as we grieve and move forward with our lives without your brightness guiding us.
.
Always

Poem for Liam
A piece of you is missing
It’s gone off to the sky
And every single day
You’ll often question why
But you’ll find him in the quiet and the song
You’ll find him in the leaves blowing through the trees
He will be forever loved
Forever imortalised
And If you feel a breeze
Know it’s him nearby
We all are sending love as you navigate this loss
A beautiful soul, gone to early
No words can bring him back
But look into the sky each day
And remember who he was
He was the best of you
The heart, the soul, the laugh
And he’ll live on through your stories
Although right now it feels too much
You’re surrounded by the love of millions
And in time you’ll you’ll come to see
The one by one each one of us
Becomes that gentle autumn breeze
In loving memory of Liam.
Forever young and forever loved
