What’s The Story Now, Kate?

Over the last week fans of Liam Payne watched in shock and disdain as his former public girlfriend, Ms Katelyn Cassidy went to The Sun Newspaper and sold her story about her relationship with Liam. At times Ms Cassidy seemed overwhelmed by emotion and during the second interview seemed more emotional that the first, however there are many inconsistencies in Kate’s story that she told and many things that have opened up more questions for fans, rather than answering them.

First of all Kate alleges that she often still calls Liam’s phone to listen to his voicemail- sweet, right? Only Liam, according to his own father, didn't have a cell phone to contact as he went offline and off grid as a method to protect his mental health and stop himself from relapsing into addiction. Geoff stated that if he wanted to speak to Liam, he’d have to call either Kate or Roger as they were Liam’s care team while he was away. If that is true then why did Kate contact Gonzalo Avendao instead of Geoff when she got home from their trip to Argentina?

Another inconsistency in Kate’s story is that when this all first happened Kate stated that she had to go home because she couldn’t stay in one place for too long, but then the story changed to she had to go home for their rescue dog Nala. If the dog was being cared for, as I’m sure she was, then why the sudden rush to go home and why allegedly leave with most of Liam’s clothes and credit cards? Also this doesn’t track because after Liam’s funeral Kate allegedly stayed for 6 weeks in London so why was it okay to leave the dog for six weeks and not for two and a half?

Further, if as Geoff alleges, Kate was part of Liam’s care team then why didn’t she contact his family after she left Argentina? If the psychiatrist knew that Liam was unstable then why did his alleged partner leave him alone in a country with someone that she apparently did not trust and why didn’t she call Geoff and let him know that Liam was alone with Roger and Lula and that she had gone back to Wellington, Florida?

Another part of the tale that doesn’t track is that the house in Florida was back up for rent on October 25th meaning that there were no plans for Kate and Liam to live there beyond that date, so what was to happen then? Why was the house only rented until then, unless the stunt relationship was over and they were going to go their separate ways which could fit as the PR company had parted way with Liam just prior to his passing. This of course proves she lied when stating that someone had come to decorate it for Hallowe’en as they would have left before that.

One more difficulty that many fans have with this story is that while watching Kate, she continuously glanced downward which, according to body language experts is a subconscious way of expressing guilt, shame or rehearsed words. This makes sense and while I do think there was some genuine pain in Ms Cassidy’s stories there was also a lot that never made sense to anyone who’s closely been paying attention to Liam’s case.

Kate claimed she supported Liam through his struggles with addiction, but surely anyone who is with  a recovering alcoholic, especially at early stages when they are most at risk of relapse would not be exposing them consistently to alcohol and going to bars and clubs. Perhaps a glass of wine with a meal, but not to the extent that Kate was drinking around Liam. I know all recoveries are different, but Liam’s struggle with alcoholism is well documented so it seems very unlikely that he’d have been comfortable around alcohol when he was days out of rehab. Liam in fact often looked extremely uncomfortable as Kate and her friends were drinking alcohol and it seems unfathomable to me that she continued to place him in places that posed a risk to him staying sober, so her stating that she supported him through his addictions is not only insulting, it’s also factually incorrect.

Calling Liam’s death an accident is ridiculous because five people are currently on trial for manslaughter and abandonment causing death so his death was not an accident and if Kate genuinely cared for Liam as she claims, then why isn’t she fighting for justice and using her platform like many of Liam’s fans are doing? Instead of fighting for justice or asking what the hell happened, she’s towing the line given by TMZ and not questioning (at least in public) what happened to the person she claims was the love of her life.

Another fault with this narrative that she portrayed is that she went to The Sun at all with her story, because The Sun has treated Liam and indeed all the One Direction boys extremely poorly over the years and has caused relentless hate to be thrown Liam’s way on multiple occasions. It’s also a paid story which means that Kate sought them out to further the narrative that Liam was the love of her life and that he loved her in return for financial gain..

Kate alleges that fans of Liam have hated on her, sent her death threats online and that she had to delete all social networks, however both her Instagram and Tiktok accounts have been and remained active since Liam’s passing. However, as fans have called out Kate, including ourselves, I would like to categorically point out that in no way should anyone ever send death threats or wish harm on another person regardless of who they are and what we believe they have done. Justice doesn’t come from vigilantes on the internet, it comes from courtrooms and juries.

According to Roger’s lawsuit against Geoff, Kate was Liam’s girlfriend from May until October 2024 and was paid an allowance and expenses by Liam. This shows that regardless of what anyone else believes Liam was in fact paying Kate to be his ‘girlfriend’ and that she no longer got paid when Liam passed which could be why in December, two months after Liam passed her team approached The Sun and offered an exclusive story on Kate and Liam. You can make your own mind up on that one, but to me that shows that she cared little about Liam and how this newspaper treated him over the years and was more interested in the payout she could get because her personal ATM was gone.

Furthermore Kate stated that she didn't remember what she was watching when Liam first told her he loved her and that they were probably watching some Disney movie, but when someone tells you they're in love with with, it's not something one forgets. People always remember the smallest details of the big moments in their lives and this seems so contrived that it seems fake. Another thingshe blocked out the call she got that told her he was dead. As someone who's been through trauma like that, and has spoken to others who've had similar experiences, this struck me as very odd as it's something you go over and over in your mind, to the point that it isn't something you ever forget, however trauma can be blocked out so it's not unheard off, but extremely odd.

One glaring red flag in the interview that Kate gave was the fact that she commented on how Liam always stayed loyal to Simon Cowell and saw him as the man who discovered him, yet this is at odds with almost every other person who has spoken out about their experiences working with Simon Cowell. Many accuse Simon of being cruel, cold, heartless and more concerned with his image than caring for the contestants in his shows. Liam and all of One Direction were abused constantly at Simon’s hands, as they were overworked, constantly on the go, promoting, recording and touring. All five boys carry many scars and in Liam’s own words, he was glad when One Direction ended because if they’d kept going it would have killed him. Does that sound like someone who was grateful to Simon for discovering him? Another issue I have with that statement is that Simon Cowell did not give Liam his talent, his drive or his determination. Liam had those qualities alone and so for Clemmie Moodie and Kate Cassidy to claim he was loyal to Simon is the biggest slap in the fact to the One Direction boys and the trauma that Simon caused them.

Clemmie Moodie, who was mentioned above, is good friends with Simon Cowell herself and counts many of the highlights of her career as anything, ANYTHING, to do with Simon Cowell. Clemmie, herself, has written many scathing stories about celebrities over the years, but is always full of praise for Simon and his work. She’s good friends with under fire Melissa Nathan, who was caught crafting a smear campaign against Blake Lively recently after she accused her co worker of sexual assault. Melissa, sister of Sara Nathan, who’s been at the forefront of the ‘Liam as an addict’ stories since his passing is well known for her crafting discord in fandoms by creating online accounts to create conflict and distrust when people don’t play by the music or film industries' arbitrary rules. Another of Clemmie Moodie’s friends is Annemarie Sampson, wife of former Sun editor Pete Sampson and Simon Cowell’s right hand woman, so it’s no surprise that the snippet about Cowell was in the interview.

One has to question why the narrative of Liam’s death as an accident has been put out there when people are on trial for his death and why and how Simon Cowell is connected. Kate doing this interview with Simon’s preferred newspaper shows that he’s still very much the puppetmaster behind the scenes, but one has to ask why he’s making sure that fans feel sorry for Kate, why the narrative that Liam was an addict has been perpetuated and why we’re being asked to forget all the questions we have and listen to the merry widow instead of looking into Liam’s death as we have been doing.

Simon, it’s not working. We’re still here, still questioning and still searching for answers. Unfortunately for you, we aren’t dumb or stupid and while Kate’s grief may be genuine because Liam was by all accounts a wonderful person with a huge heart, we also know her greed and her desire for a lifestyle of the rich and famous is why she gave the interview, probably at your behest, but you can’t stop us, Simon.

We are strong, we are united and we demand justice for Liam, so either stand with us or get out of our way. We as fans stand with the Paynes and with the remaining members of One Direction since we are their voices now.

The court case has started and we’ll see whether justice prevails or if it’s all a sham because the orders came from inside the circus, but we will never stop fighting you and your ilk. We will be the change we want to see in the world because future generations deserve a future free of vultures like you, Simon, and all the others out there who use young boys and girls for their own benefit. No more. It stops now.

And to Ms Cassidy- you said you loved Liam yet you didn’t call Geoff or Pauly or anyone else when you left. You said what happened to Liam wasn’t your fault and while you didn’t cause it, you contributed to his death by not informing the people who loved him that you had left. I hope karma comes to you and reminds you that people deserve care, whether they are an alcoholic, a drug addict, someone with mental health issues and that the next time the opportunity to save someone presents itself that you act with care, compassion and generosity of spirit because those are the qualities you lacked with Liam.

More to come soon.
